Nursing Care Manager

**Position Summary**:
**PEI Atlantic Baptist Homes Inc.** is seeking a **Nursing Care Manager** to oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, under the direction of the Director of Care. Based in Prince Edward Island, this role is key to ensure high quality standards of care is maintained in providing leadership and guidance to the nursing staff. The role provides clinical leadership in the Nursing Department with accountability for the integration of the standards of nursing practice in the delivery of person-centered care to the residents in accordance with the philosophy, objectives and practices of Atlantic Baptist Housing.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Operational**
- Ensures compliance with Prince Edward Island Nursing Acts and Regulations to meet Nursing Home Inspection Standards.
- Support the integration of the Acts and Regulations into clinical practice.
- Assists the Director of Care in the overall management of the Nursing department including staffing budgeting and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and infection control regulations, as well as Adult Residential Facility standards.
- Ensure implementation of Reviews/updates internal policies as necessary.
- Acts as the primary contact in the absence of the Director of Care.
- Collaborate with the Director of Care.
- Works in collaboration with Registered Nurses and other care team members.
- Manage processes to integrate clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based care and service into clinical practice (based on admission assessment).
- Participate in strategic planning and implementation of nursing care initiatives
- Performs daily rounds in the nursing care units
- Participate in Education Committee and education sessions.
- Collaborate with Director of Care by providing feedback for the evaluation of the performance of nursing staff.
**Staff Leadership & Development**
- Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of nursing care staff.
- Works in collaboration with the Recruiter and Workforce Coordinator with orientation, training, probationary periods and any disciplinary measures with regards to the nursing employees.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring staff feel supported and engaged.
**Quality Assurance & Compliance**
- Ensures compliance with Prince Edward Island Nursing Acts and Regulations to meet Nursing Home Inspection Standards.
- Support the integration of the Acts and Regulations into clinical practice.
Review/update internal policies as necessary.
- Attend nursing department meetings and other facility meetings as required.
- Participate in Nursing Department Meetings, Professional Practice, Joint Occupational Health and Safety meetings (as required) and records and distributes minutes (as needed).
- Performs and supports best practice with clinical integration.
- Participate in Occupational Health and Safety, Palliative Care and others are required.
- Weekly reports to Public Health when required.
- Track and monitor medication incidents.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program or a with at least five (5) years work related experience.
- Must be a registered with the College of Registered Nurses of PEI.
- Strong leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, particularly overseeing nursing care staff.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in a long-term care, including working in a unionized environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
