**The Opportunity**
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Procurement, the Regional Purchaser is responsible for working with the Project Teams to facilitate the purchase of products and services for the various construction sites, including permanent materials, temporary works components, equipment, and consumables. The Regional Purchaser will also work closely with the preconstruction team by acquiring detailed and accurate material/equipment pricing for project pursuits, manage and support buyer(s) with overflow of day-to-day purchases, coordinate with equipment manager, and liaise with other members of the logistic department to develop and implement processes and best practices.
**What YOU Will Do**
- Review and understand ongoing regional projects and the material/equipment requirements of those projects,
- Understand technical specifications and contract requirements,
- Work closely with the Project Delivery teams to develop a procurement plan and understand the requirements/expectations of each project,
- Receive purchase requisitions from Project Delivery team and work with the Regional Logistic Coordinator to facilitate purchases,
- Create and maintain relationships with suppliers,
- Request bids from suppliers to ensure competitiveness and budget adherence,
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers in the market and act as Pomerleau’s go-to resource for current pricing of regularly used materials/equipment,
- Procure site materials and equipment as required and ensure timely delivery to site (e.g. concrete, aggregate, pipe, lumber, excavators, etc )
- Manage Purchase order process (P2P) with vendors and major suppliers,
- Search for innovative products and new suppliers to improve competitiveness and budget expectations,
- Follow up on out-of-stock products and delivery note reconciliations with purchase orders and invoice approval,
- Organize transportation for purchased materials and ensure competitiveness of delivery rates,
- Collaborate, support, and implement/optimize corporate agreements with procurement specialists,
- Plan product groupings for annual agreements with preferred and competitive vendors,
- Negotiate credit and payment terms with local suppliers,
- Ensure payment terms are adhered to by administrative and project delivery teams and invoicing from vendors is accurate,
- Follow established ISO procedures.
**What YOU Will Bring**
- 10+ years experience in the construction industry with specific experience in purchasing, logistics, and procurement,
- University Degree/Technology Diploma, or a combination of education and relevant industry experience
- Confident leader with outstanding organizational skills,
- Ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of vendor, resource availability, and technical issues,
- Strong knowledge of construction and project methodologies, financial management, as well as specifications and associated contractual requirements,
- Knowledge of the local market, vendors, and suppliers, for permanent materials, temporary works components, and equipment,
- A passion to develop, maintain and execute to the project schedule,
- Excellent communication, computer, and relationship skills,
- Highly autonomous and able to manage in high pace environments.
