**About the opportunity**:
We are looking for a full time Corporate Controller who will be based in Comox, BC.

Reporting to the CEO and President, the Corporate Controller will oversee the accounting operations to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the financial results and ensuring the results comply with accepted accounting principles and securities disclosure requirements. In this management role, the Controller will work alongside and direct the Finance team to produce complete and accurate financial information for internal management reporting and external financial information (i.e. NAV results).

**Key areas of responsibility**:
This position will require a very organized, multi-tasking individual who understands the complexities of financial management within a growing company. Key accountabilities include:

- Manage and provide expertise on finance matters, supporting new processes and continuous improvement within the business
- Work collaboratively with the current 2 person accounting team
- Lead and assist in the calculation of estimated and final NAV’s for RealStream on a monthly basis
- Liaise with external auditors and the fund administrator regarding financial reporting and timely issuance of financial statements
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures, upholding provincial and federal accounting standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future rules and standards
- Implement internal control systems, operational procedures and reporting systems to mitigate financial risks and support the growth of the business
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
- Responsible for the preparation of the annual budget for DeLuca Veale and RealStream
- Personally complete tasks as needed to assist with the overall functioning of the accounting department and to ensure deadlines are met
- Cover for the Finance Manager while on vacation or other absences
- Special projects as assigned

**Skill set required**:

- CPA designation is a requirement, with 2 years post qualification experience in a similar role
- Prior experience managing financial reporting and accounting team
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and audit processes to analyze financial data and formulate conclusions and recommendations
- Experience in corporate tax filings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to develop strong, cooperative relationships with stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Sage

**Additional beneficial skills and attributes**:

- Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards, IFRS.
- Experience with finance for real estate entities
- Experience with securities related businesses.

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
