Rece Summer Camp Counsellor

**Must be available the week of June 25-26, 2025 for staff training.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Create engaging craft and play activities for preschool or elementary children.
- Provide a safe play environment.
- Provide basic first aid to children, if needed.
- Supervise children on arrival, lunch, play, and departure, in addition to camp activities.
- Communicate with parents about the activities of the day.
- Help children choose appropriate ways to handle their emotions and deal with conflict.
- Help children use their creativity.
- Help children understand the importance of responsibility.

Requirements for employment:
**Valid RECE certificate

**Solid understanding of The Child Care and Early Years Act, ensuring compliance with regulations and commitment to maintaining high-quality care and programming.

**Valid certification in Standard First Aid including infant and child CPR, from a training agency recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

**Up-to-date Immunization records pertaining to: tetanus/diptheria/pertussis (Tdap), measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) and varicella (chicken pox). If you have no records, you will need to provide lab reports (blood tests) that show immunity/antibodies.

**Health assessment from your doctor indicating that you're healthy and free of communicable diseases and can work with young children. (Form provided by Kanata Montessori upon employment acceptance.)

Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 per week
