**Position purpose**:
The Manager oversees all operations of the International Affairs portfolio including the alignment of the human, financial and material resources with Faculty of Engineering objectives. Provides leadership, high-quality guidance, and support with the objective of increasing the number of international partnerships and programs for the Faculty of Engineering, both in terms of visibility and external funding.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:

- Manages resource planning, goal setting, quality control, risk management of the international affairs portfolio and guides the team to ensure alignment with the Faculty and University strategic plans.
- Recruits staff, evaluates their performance, ensures adequate personal and professional development, identifies development needs, and recommends appropriate training strategies. Fosters a positive work environment and teamwork.
- Oversees all financial aspects including the preparation and management of an operating budget, conducting analysis, and reporting on a quarterly basis. Effectively applies accounting practices of the University of Ottawa to ensure compliance to financial controls. Acts on possible revenue generating activities.
- Oversees the conception, management, delivery, and evaluation of all international activities such as partnerships, incoming leadership visits, outgoing missions to various countries by Faculty leadership and personnel, educational programs, symposia, retreats, and meetings. Sets expectations, decides project timelines, reviews, and adjusts milestones and transfer of knowledge between stakeholders of the international community.
- Initiates, develops, and maintains mutually beneficial relationships and collaborations with new and existing international partners, including international higher education institutions, foreign ministries, Canadian embassies, and high commissions abroad, NGOs.
- Leads conceptualization, development, and negotiation of international agreements for the faculty that are strategically sound, sustainable, and of mutual interest to all partners. Works closely with uOInternational and IREX to ensure compliance with university policies and directions. Identifies solutions to move projects forward and reallocates resources when required.
- Oversees the creation of the communication strategy, branding and deliverables for the promotion of international and global engineering activities. Oversees international events as part of partnership development efforts.

**What you will bring**:

- Undergraduate degree in business, marketing, international relations or other relevant fields, Masters education considered an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience, whether in the international education sector, through business and partnership development, marketing, or other similar experiences.
- Certification as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant considered an asset.
- Training and experience in project management principles, including work plans, critical paths, milestones, risk assessment, detailed analysis, and reporting.
- Knowledge and experience in financial management including forecasting, reporting, and analysis thereof.
- Experience in managing and supervising employees.
- Experience in collaborating with senior personnel and leadership at a local, national and international level.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with a wide audience at all levels, while demonstrating cultural awareness.
- Proactive, autonomous, and able to work with limited supervision.
- Experience and knowledge of computer systems and software such as Windows, word processing software, spreadsheet
