**Job Summary**:
As a Finance Manager at Build a Dream, you will play a key role in ensuring the organization's financial health through accurate and timely financial management. You will manage accounts payable and receivable, maintain detailed financial records, support budget development, and assist in preparing financial reports. Your contributions will directly support the organization's mission and strategic goals by ensuring transparency and financial compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage all accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including reconciliations of bank statements and accounts.
- Manage cash flow and prepare regular cash flow reports to ensure financial stability and operational efficiency.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with the leadership to develop budgets, monitor spending, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and implement efficient workflows and processes to streamline financial operations, ensuring consistency and compliance across all activities.
- Support external audits by providing required documentation and insights into financial processes.
- Partner with a third-party accounting firm to assist with financial oversight and compliance matters.
- Review financial transactions and suggest process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare journal entries based on system-generated information, ensuring precision in financial reporting.
- Manage invoicing processes and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Ensure project costs are categorized and allocated appropriately
- Assist with the implementation and optimization of financial software and systems.
- Regularly analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Finance department.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- **Required**: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
**Experience**:
- **Required**: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
- **Required**:Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance.
- **Preferred**: Expertise in financial software and analytical tools such as Xero, Float, Dext and Plooto.
- **Preferred**:Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset
**Skills**:
- Strong proficiency in financial software and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial records.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Effective communication skills to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Familiarity with non-profit financial management and compliance is an asset.
