**Lead, Grant Support**

Reporting to the Manager, the Lead - Grant Support is responsible to support the activities of the client services group to ensure that the needs of the clients are met while maintaining service standards internally. Leveraging Mitacs program knowledge and grant management procedures, this leader must provide excellent client service, while supporting Grant Management staff from across the department.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Client management**
- Ensure strong communication with external stakeholders
- Fully understand program offerings and nuances of grant management workflow and boundaries
- Liaise with different departments about client queries
- Assist with escalated inquiries related to complex program issues, delays, or conflict

**Systems and process maintenance**
- Help develop effective communication templates in response to recurring questions
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of client service activities and protocols

**Leadership**
- Help implement defined goals, objectives, and internal service standards
- Although this role will not initially have direct reports, collaboration and coaching across the department is expected
- Provide guidance and advice to the team by responding to and facilitating team questions and queries of support.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Post-secondary education in a business-related field and 2+ years of relevant experience in a management role
- Grant administration experience or relevant experience at an academic institution
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and professional behaviour
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy
- Creative thinker, reliable, and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to think strategically and recommend appropriate initiatives and solutions
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Self‐motivated, able to work in a team environment and balance the needs of a number of individuals
- Fully bilingual (English and French) is a strong asset
