**KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB**

The Maintenance Technician contributes to the profitable growth and development of the Company by maintaining all equipment within the Company and therefore ensuring that the Company can continue to produce parts and be profitable. They are also responsible for building upkeep and preventative maintenance of all machines and equipment as scheduled.

**DETAILED FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB **You will accurately and efficiently complete the following functions of the job:
**Maintenance**
- Maintain all equipment in a safe and clean manner
- Perform preventative maintenance for all equipment by adhering to the preventative maintenance schedule for each machine/department
- Predictive and preventative maintenance in accordance with IATS_16949
- Track, report, and document all preventative maintenance on the Company’s internal network
- Top up machine oils, and record usage and manage oil and coolant inventories.
- Transport and properly store/dispose of Dangerous Goods
- Be a part of the Spill Response Team
- Communicate with Purchasing Department for any procurement requirements
- Housekeeping of storage areas, maintenance areas, and fabrication department
- Ensure compliance of maintenance instruction sheets and procedures.
- Measure various physical properties using common measuring tools such as rulers, tapes, thermometers and scales.
- Evaluate condition of parts and equipment.
- Communicate with contracted companies for repairs of machinery
- Communicate with contracted companies for scheduled preventative maintenance compliance
- Assess the safety of work environments as a member of the JHSC
- Perform tasks independently under direct supervision.
- Able to work in a team setting when necessary
- Building and ground maintenance

**Fire Safety**
- Ensure Fire and Emergency Systems are in excellent working order
- Perform general maintenance for Fire and Emergency Systems i.e. change lightbulbs on emergency signs, change batteries in emergency lighting, hang fire extinguishers in designated areas etc.
- Communicate with contracted companies for annual Fire and Emergency System inspections o Follow up on reports and any areas of concern identified by the inspections
- Communicate with Controller before any major repairs are contracted out
- Keep all inspection and repair records for the required period of time as set out but the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997

**Communication**
- Communicate with Executive Team when major repairs or purchases are required
- Communicate with Plant Coordinator and Department Heads for all maintenance that could interrupt production prior to starting that maintenance
- Attend weekly production meetings, discuss upcoming preventative maintenance, inspection, or repairs that could impact or interrupt production
- Communicate with Quality Team about spills, usage reports, laser dust disposal amounts, new products ordered, and any other information in regards to ISO 14001, IATS_16949 audits and records

**Continuous Improvement**
- Continually increase and expand upon your job knowledge as it relates to your position, and keep up to date on all changes to marketing best practices.
- Keep training for operation of various machines up to date. Be willing and able to learn the operation of new equipment and machinery as it becomes available
- Maintain continuous learning by reading manuals and bulletins

**Health and Safety**
- Work according to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation 851 - Industrial Establishments.
- Observe and comply with all Company Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Perform all duties with careful consideration to safeguard your health and safety, and that of others.

**REQUIREMENTS**

**- 1-4 years relative experience in a similar role**

**- Proven Maintenance experience a must**

**- Certified forklift/reach truck driver**

**- Basic computer skills**

**- Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs**

**- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices**

**- Must be capable of standing & walking for long periods**

**- Must be able to work independently and within small groups with mínimal supervision**

**- Must be able to follow SOP’s & schedules**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $27.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- in a similar role: 1 year (preferred)
