Junior Surveyor

**JOB SUMMARY**: The Junior Surveyor will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the GPS, Total Station and Survey requirements for construction projects with a high level of accuracy, ensuring design criteria is adhered to and well documented. They will receive direction from Senior Surveyor on various tasks and ensure good care of all instruments and accessories, including transporting them to and from the field. **Responsibilities** - Maintain and verify site control points and benchmarks of each project. - Running Total Stations, GPS and level instruments to perform required surveys. - Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated. - Perform construction layout work in various stages of construction accurately and efficiently. - Perform quantity, topo and as built surveys. - Download field survey data and make records ready for processing and documentation. - Provide information on design surfaces for grading, services, etc. - Maintain accurate records and documentation. - Oversee GPS system operation and maintenance, track and coordinate equipment repairs. - Ensure compliance with health and safety standards as required under the OH&SA, applicable federal and provincial regulations and maintain company standards and procedures. - Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the team effort and achievement of desired results. **Qualifications** - **Education, training and experience**:_ - College-level education in Surveying or Geomatics. - Minimum 3 years’ experience in surveying / geotechnical for construction. - Possession of valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, have access to a vehicle for use on business (mileage compensated) and will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire. - **Technical skills and proficiency**:_ - Ability to understand construction, Total Station and GPS survey instruments specifically Trimble equipment. - Ability to read, understand, explain and interpret drawings and specifications. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook. - Experience or familiarity in AutoCAD and Visio - **Knowledge **_**and abilities**:_ - Basic knowledge and experience of survey data preparation for field surveys/download and process through instrument office software. - Good organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. - Effective communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high level of dependability. - Strong desire to work in a heavy civil construction site office and field environment. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Benefits**: - Dental care - Extended health care - On-site parking - Profit sharing - Vision care Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: - Bolton, ON L7E 4E3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) **Experience**: - Surveying / geotechnical for construction: 3 years (required) Licence/Certification: - Ontario Driver's License, Glass "G" (required)
