**ABOUT THE POSITION**

Reporting to President and Chief Executive (the “CEO”), the Vice President, Construction Back River Project will be responsible to deliver the construction of the Initial Project Back River Gold Mine, on time and on budget with a fit for purpose strategy. This is a permanent position primarily located at the Back River Project Site in Nunavut, Canada (approximately 500km northeast of Yellowknife, NWT, Canada at coordinates 65.54535, -106.42972) and periodically at the corporate office located at Suite 1800, Two Bentall Centre, 555 Burrard Street, Box 220, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, V7X 1M9 with other travel as required.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive, duties will include (but are not limited to):

- Be responsible for the direction, management and development of all aspects of the Back River Construction Project, consistent with the Company’s guidelines and standards on time and on budget at the right quality while ensuring optimal value creation of the project;
- Lead a multi-disciplinary owners’ team to advance the project including finalized detailed engineering, procurement, negotiations, construction and commissioning;
- Develop effective implementation plans, including execution schedule, project contracting, HS&E plans, quality management, project controls and operational readiness;
- Manage external consultants to ensure development of a fit for purpose project;
- Ensure the use of effective project control tools that enable management of budget, schedule and risk in accordance with Company policies and procedures established under the direction of the VP Finance and CFO;
- Manage the project development, logistics and site exploration operations teams by promoting a safe, strong performance culture;
- Deliver regular updates to the Executive management team and Board of Directors;
- Development of a team of direct reports capable of delivering the Company’s strategic and tactical objectives for development, construction and future mine operations, including assessment of staffing needs, training, mentoring, and performance assessment; and
- Such other duties as are assigned by the CEO from time to time and as are customarily performed by an executive in this role.

**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum thirty (30) years’ relevant experience in a senior operations / construction management / reliability engineer role in mining industry;
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Post-secondary schooling in related fields such as Business Management, Construction Management etc. considered an asset;
- Preference for a Registered Professional Engineer, preferably in both British Columbia and Northwest Territories/Nunavut (or has the ability to transfer);
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent written and spoken English (primary language required for this position);
- Proven ability to lead construction and operation teams in the development of a 500 million to 1 billon dollar mining facility in a remote location; and
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills and the ability to create and maintain a culture of excellence.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

The salary for this position is $350,000.00 annually with an additional comparable performance-based bonus, stock options eligible. A comprehensive benefits package including extended health, medical, dental, disability insurance, and a company provided health spending account is also offered.
