School District 72 is looking for a **Temporary Painter** to join our team of professionals who strive to bring the district's learning beliefs to life.
School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The district also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The district serves over 5,600 students in 18 schools with a diverse range of programs that are progressive and responsive to the educational needs and interests of students.

**About the Role**
- Carries out painting work including the use of various powered equipment.
- Prepares (including sanding, filling and pressure washing), paints, stains or varnishes interior and exterior surfaces including buildings, classrooms, furniture, cabinetry, playground equipment and signs.
- Develop a close liaison with other staff so that a team approach is developed in the operation of schools and painting maintenance work.
- Works from oral and/or written instruction and to established procedures, including ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Uses hand and power tools/equipment and materials associated with performing assigned duties, cleans and stores tools and equipment as required.
- Responds to emergency situations when required.
- Provides his or her own personal tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Bring your Expertise**
- Valid B.C. TQ and/or interprovincial TQ ticket as a painter.
- Minimum two years of recent full-time equivalent commercial/residential painting experience (approximately 3500 hrs.) as a journeyman painter, including brush, roller and spray.
- Successful completion of courses in WHMIS and Fall Protection.
- Must have the ability to read and write English, preferably have Grade 12 diploma.
- Physical ability to perform all assigned tasks, including heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Have a clear understanding of all painting related procedures and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain a satisfactory relationship with school administration, parents, staff and students.
- Ability to work at heights including a ladder, scaffold or MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms).
- Ability to organize individual work.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment.
- Valid B.C. Driver's License Class 5 minimum.
