**Position title: Researcher/Analyst - Socio-Economic Research** **Position type**:Full-time, Intermediate **Location**:Edmonton, AB, Victoria, BC, Vancouver, BC, Toronto, ON, or remote work **Reports to**:Business Lead or Project Manager on a project basis **Supervised by**:Senior Socio-Economic staff member or Business Lead **Salary range**:Competitive, commensurate with experience **Application Deadline**:Position will remain open until filled **Position start date**:ASAP **This Position**: **Background**: **Job Duties**: - **Business Development**_ - Collaborate on program management tasks for projects that are in line with company, client and regulatory requirements - Support business development efforts, including potential client/prospect identification, proposal writing and client-facing activities - **Project Management**_ - Monitor project execution, including establishing and tracking project metrics and conducting project evaluation - Support the end-to-end creation, development, and analysis of large, complex, disparate data sets to identify actionable insights for senior researchers - Support the design of research methodologies and project management - Work closely with clients and community members to successful execute project deliverables. - Coordinate projects by developing and maintaining project/task schedules and budgets for project components, and monitoring project progress, work hours, budgets and expenditures using project scheduling and cost control tools. - **Analysis and Technical Skills**_ - Work closely with senior Firelight researchers and Indigenous partners to: produce thematic analyses, assess impacts, identify mitigation recommendations, develop policies, support various community-driven initiatives, and complete necessary deliverables for Indigenous clients. - Support the assessment of project impacts on the socio-economic environment, including consideration of regional and local economies, community services and infrastructure, land use and recreation, and community well-being and safety. - Prepare socio-economic research products and data analysis for various Indigenous communities - Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets using project scheduling and cost control tools - Develop, conduct, analyze and report on interviews, surveys and focus groups focused on social, economic, and cultural conditions, trends, and the potential effects of industrial development on land within Indigenous communities - **Report Writing**_ - Write literature reviews, including socio-economic research analysis - Provide plain language summaries of complex social and economic information for community partners - Collaborate on the drafting and finalization of project reports **Relationship building**: - Build and maintain strong supportive relationships with clients and various project partners - Assist with Firelight internal and external communications - Mentor and support junior staff **Qualifications**: - Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social or environmental science or other related field (Master’s preferred) PLUS a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Socio-economic research or equivalent - Experience working with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in an applied setting - Experience working with Indigenous communities **Required Skills**: - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Proficient in Microsoft office suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Excellent writing, communication, organizational, computer and time management skills - Ability to work within a fast-paced environment that includes independent and collaborative work - Knowledge of topics, issues, and opportunities pertaining to Indigenous communities - Knowledge of social sciences and environmental impact assessment method, techniques, and practices - Ability to consistently deliver on-time reports, analyses, proposals, and other materials - Driver’s licence required with the ability to travel regularly up to 5 days per month, not necessarily consecutively, sometimes in remote communities **Additional information**: - This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies within The Firelight Group **Firelight offers compensation commensurate with skills and training, within industry standard ranges.
