**Job Summary
Numinus Bioscience is a licensed laboratory located in British Columbia. It is one of the largest research facilities in Western Canada and a global leader in psychedelic research. Its purpose is to research and develop psychedelic formulations and methods, led by a team of specialized scientists using state-of-the-art equipment. Numinus Bioscience holds a Controlled Drugs and Substances license issued by Health Canada, through which it works with a range of psychedelic substances, including DMT, ketamine, LSD, MDMA, mescaline, psilocybin, psilocin.

With rapid advancement on our expansion strategy, we are now hiring a Laboratory Technician I in our Microbiology Laboratory. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong science background in biology who is seeking to take part in the acceleration of psychedelic testing initiatives. This position is suited to an individual who has knowledge of microbiology and aseptic techniques through specific classes or honors projects and shows an aptitude for learning.

**Job responsibilities**:

- Responsible for daily documentation and record keeping.
- Maintain and update information into database.
- Complete and maintain inventory logs as required
- Follow SOPs and be part of change management of processes as required.
- Work within a Containment Level 2 Microbiology Laboratory.
- Preparation of laboratory solutions and microbiological media.
- Cleaning, maintenance, and operation of basic laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, autoclaves, biological safety cabinets, incubators, and temperature logging equipment.
- Working aseptically, in a biological safety cabinet.
- Perform microbiological enumeration and specified microorganism testing of psychedelic products.
- Assisting in optimizing microbiological testing methods.
- Prepare and interpret wet mount and gram stain slides.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean laboratory environment.
- Ensure regulatory compliance working with GLP and GMP environment.
- Maintain a high level of PPE compliance to ensure limited contamination risk.
- Perform any other additional duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Microbiology
- Familiar with Aseptic Techniques and working under a biosafety cabinet.
- Experience cultivating, plating, and counting bacteria.
- Experience working in a Containment Level 2 Laboratory is an asset.
- Experience with molecular techniques (DNA Extraction, PCR, Electrophoresis) an asset.
- Experience working in a controlled environment a plus.
- Strong time management, organizational and prioritization skills, with attention to detail.
- Able to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and balancing conflicting demands of high volume versus the quality of work.
