Bloodvein River First Nation seeks to fill a full-time First Nation Family Law Coordinator position. The First Nations Family Law Coordinator will work under the direction of the First Nations Family Law Committee to develop adaptable templates for traditional family laws within our First Nation. The family law of this project focuses on collecting and analyzing information on how our First Nation members manage family and child matters. Traditional Indigenous family law is premised on stories and historical accounts; the First Nation Family Law Coordinator will translate the values into family law principles. Additionally, the position will contribute to drafting federal legislation to support and protect Manitoba First Nations' inherent jurisdiction over children and families.

**DUTIES**
- Coordinate community engagement to gather traditional family law knowledge through various methods such as surveys and face-to-face interviews.
- Draw Indigenous family law principles from data gathered; and
- Develop adaptable template laws for each Nation.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Social work degree with a minimum of 2-3 years experience working in child welfare.
- Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the Child and Family Services system.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong research skills with experience in indigenous research methods.
- Experience working with First Nation and First Nation communities.
- A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultural practices.
- Fluency in the Anishinaabe Ojibwe Language and identifying as part of an indigenous group would be an asset.
