**FABRICATION TECHNICIAN**

**Responsibilities**:

- Reports to Production Manager
- Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the BMG Health and Safety policies and procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Ensure all co-workers and anyone entering the job site follows all appropriate health and safety procedures and wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Fabricate curtain walls, interior frames, store fronts, window walls, sliders, tilt and turn frames, bi-folding doors using north American and European used high-end profile.
- Contribute to labor planning on a weekly basis to ensure proper staffing and resources are available on a given project; ensure shop load report accurately reflects labor needed by project.
- Cuts / customizes product to size using various hand tools and saws, to the specification based on the drawings and blueprint.
- Determines the materials required and plan the sequence of tasks to cut aluminum most efficiently.
- Collects and packages material required pertaining to aluminum for job site. This requires lifting materials weighing from 5 to 50 lbs.
- Assemble and fit aluminum sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using various equipment and hand tools (drills, saw, etc.).
- Move materials, product to storage areas within warehouse, transports product inside the warehouse as needed to maintain organization and efficiency (product can weigh up to 50 lbs.). This can be done with the assistance of a co-worker
- Responsible in completing the daily inspection equipment, tools log sheet prior to using equipment. This requires the employee to use the equipment and hand tools each day for inspection.
- Set-up and operate various heavy-duty equipment aluminum working machine such as table saw, grinders, drills and various power tools.
- Packed material that was fabricated Loads and arranges materials, products on truck if needed following sequence of deliveries, ensuring safety loading procedures. This requires the employee to manually handle material, products, weighing up to 50 lbs. A forklift (if certified) can be use or the assistance of a co-worker.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and neat. Sweeps and cleans area at the end of every day.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 5 years fabricating experience.
- Must be capable of operating and working in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining an organized working environment.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience of all fabricating and warehouse equipment.
- Understanding of drawings and blueprints, architectural design and material.
- Familiarity with various aluminum profiles such as curtain wall, store fronts and punch windows are considered an asset.
- Familiarity with door hardware and part and assembly is considered an asset.
- Certified Forklift operator (would be an asset).
- Familiar with Alumicor, Winspec, Reynaers and Wicona system is an asset.
- Able to read metric and imperial units of measurements.

- Handling glass safely using sucking cup.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms and/or legs.
- Required to stand for long period of time.
- Heavy lifting is required, unloading and loading truck
- Required to use hand drill, table saw, tiger saw, punch press, various hand tools on a continuous basis
- Physical Conditions_
- Works in a warehouse environment
- May be exposure to inclement weather, construction and residential environment
- Subject to loud noise on a regular basis.

- Required to multi-task and process a variety of information, and to identify and resolve problems within prescribed timelines and procedures.
- Must be able to work under pressure and maintain a positive and professional demeanour at all times.
