**ABOUT THE POSITION**

Working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources, the Geotechnical Supervisor is responsible for supporting geological and geophysical programs in a safe and efficient manner. Duties will include coordinating the day-to-day operations of the core logging and sampling facility, supervising a team of core technicians and core cutters, supporting the production geology team, and interacting with consultants and contractors.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Reporting to the Manager, Exploration or Delegate, duties will include (but are not limited to):

- Ensuring critical risks are identified in the planning process with appropriate controls accounted for so the work can be performed safely and effectively.
- Communicating and supporting with multiple departments including Mine Operations, Metallurgy, Geology, Projects, Site Services, and Exploration.
- Supervision of agrotechnicians and core cutters; providing training when required (geotechnical logging, core cutting, and sampling): safety, duties, work plans and priorities.
- Geotechnical core logging, core cutting, and sampling as required.
- Record keeping of core shack operations and sample shipments.
- Coordinating supplies and work required for safe efficient operation of the facility, both internal and external.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings to promote compliance to B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.
- Help management organize field related geology (mapping, geophysics, ore sampling, core moving).

**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- 10+ years’ experience in mineral exploration including 3+ years in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience in geology facility coordination and supervision.
- Prior experience in geotechnical logging, sampling, and shipping (required).
- Prior experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources considered an asset.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labour.
- Basic understanding of MS Office.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Prior experience operating tracked mobile equipment considered an asset.
