Supervisor - Child and Youth Support Program

**Position: Supervisor - Child and Youth Support Program**
**Employment Type**: Temporary, part-time (0.6 FTE), in-scope position. Term to April 30/26, may be possibility of extension

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Supervisor is responsible for the recruitment, training, placement and supervision of child and youth support workers and the maintenance and evaluation of the child and youth program. Duties shall be performed in a manner consistent with the overall mission and values of the agency. The position reports to the Director of Programs.
**Duties include**:
**Supervision**
- Recruitment of casual staff through advertising, public speaking and networking
- Ongoing supervision and support of casual workers including scheduling of hours
- Staff training and orientation - ensuring the necessary knowledge for successful outcomes of the program
**Program Coordination**
- Work with referral agency on referrals and expected program outcomes (Ministry of Social Services)
- Match workers with referrals and conduct initial assessment to determine needs and goals of referral
- Ensure each referral has a service plan tailored to their unique needs
- Report program activities to Ministry of Social Services on a regular basis
- Keep accurate records of program statistics and activities including collecting, reviewing, approving timesheets
- Develop and maintain community partnerships
- Develop programs that support youth in the community
- Meet regularly with support workers to ensure input into program ideas
- Ongoing communication with caregivers and other support people of youth participants
- Attend relevant agency meetings, be knowledgeable about agency programs and community activities
- Represent the agency on community committees and/or groups as assigned
- Perform related administrative and record keeping duties, including reports, casework recording, correspondence and statistical recording as required and in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements
- Perform work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings and/or weekends
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in social work or Indigenous social work
- Three to five years of supervisory experience
- Other relevant combinations of education and experience may be considered
**Areas of Knowledge**:
- Theories of human development, behavior and change - Family Systems Theory
- Theories and practices of communication and conflict resolution
- Theories and practices of trauma
- and violence-informed approaches
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross-cultural environments
- Awareness of and cultural sensitivity to the customs, traditions, spiritual beliefs and philosophy and perspective on family dynamics of Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations
- Demonstrated commitment toward professional growth and keeping up to date with theory and practice
- Ability to perform duties in a confidential manner and always display professional ethics
- Ability to deal with people experiencing difficult, unusual, and/or challenging situations
- Ability to work independently and lead a team of casual workers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
**Compensation**:
Pay range of $5,101.64 to $5,631.25 per month (prorated) based on bachelor’s degree and relevant experience
