**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- Designs, prepares cost and material estimates and holds pre job conferences for a variety of

distribution projects such as single and three phase overhead extensions, single phase radial
- underground subdivisions, (may perform tasks related to the design of loop URD subdivisions
- under the direction of a Technician or Technologist), up to 800 amp three phase secondary
- services and various system improvement projects including road widening projects and other
- work such as overhead transformers, pole renewal projects and street lighting requirements;
- prepares and administers local work contracts.- Conducts field studies, plots and stakes a variety of distribution projects such as single and

three phase overhead and underground lines.- Liaises with customers requiring new services up to 800 amps to discuss matters related to the
- requirements and location, explaining policies, procedures, costs and rates and issuing work
- orders and related forms. Acts on behalf of BC Hydro to review, revise and accept drawings.- Liaises with existing customers with over 800 amps services regarding new and existing work to

their premises by obtaining details, discussing requirements, explaining Hydro procedures,
- policies, costs, and rates and issuing a variety of work orders and related forms.- Administers a variety of programs related to the maintenance of plant, lines and poles;
establishes the work program, prepares tenders and issues local work contracts associated with
- above projects.- Performs a variety of other duties such as informing customers of planned interruptions and

arranging standby facilities, handling customer damage claims, monitoring progress of
- construction projects, compiling load forecast information, liaising with dealers, contractors, media,
- government and civic officials, Hydro personnel and customers on matters of energy
- management, discussing with customers the necessity of an easement wherever a BC Hydro line
- encroaches upon private property.- Performs as required all the functions of the Electric Service Coordinator job; may be required to

provide technical advice to other staff.- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of

the job

**Qualifications**:

- High School graduation with Math 12, English 12 and Physics 11, and some exposure to- Must have completed the third level of the Service & Design Self Development Program.
- Must possess a Class 5 BC Drivers License.

**This position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE).**
- Working Conditions:

- Approximately 50% of the time out of the office with regular exposure to hazards when driving and
- regular exposure to all types of weather conditions. Exposed to construction sites and remote
- work locations where a substantial amount of the time is spent walking over rough terrain and
- exposed to wild animals and dogs. Some exposure to irate customers May be required to fly in
- light aircraft and helicopters and travel in boats. May be required to travel throughout out the
- province to support the design process for periods normally not exceeding 4 to 6 weeks.- A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain the following requirements in good

standing: Driver's License Type = Class 5- This area is a fast paced, high volume design district that will require strong organizational,

project management and communication skills to keep up to the demand and challenges
- presented.- Applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered as a Design Representative Trainee.
- As part of the selection process, applicants may be required to take a written test during
