**Upstream Development Chemist**

**Location**:Scarborough, ON

Genecis Bioindustries is a venture-backed startup that uses bacteria to make premium biodegradable plastic resin from organic waste. We are seeking an upstream chemist to join our growing team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and oversee QC analytical methods for measurements including but not limited to TOC, DOC, COD, TN, TKN, Na, TP, DOP, and S at various stages of organic acid production from high-solids organic waste
- Research, develop and implement methods for removal of heavy metals and sulfides and control of key nutrient
- Support R&D projects relating to purification of organic acids
- Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all safety policies

**Preferred Qualifications and Skills**:

- B.Sc., or equivalent in chemistry or chemical engineering
- Experience in relevant analytical fields, ideally in wastewater and/or biotechnology analysis, performing method development, data gathering, data analysis, and report synthesis
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Able to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable with a fast-paced flexible work environment
