Our services and programs are grounded in the belief that individuals, families and communities have strengths that help to maintain family cohesion and support the well-being, quality of life and development of individual family members and communities.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Generalist supports and advises the Agency on operational Human Resources related issues, delivering HR best practices and HR solutions. This position is responsible for the day-to-day requirements of all components of Human Resources including recruitment and selection, employee relations, compliance, policy administration, performance management, and disability management. The incumbent provides comprehensive full-cycle Human Resource support to employees and management.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Labour Relations, and/or Employment Law
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation (CPHR) desire
- Five years’ experience in a Human Resources environment performing a broad range of Human Resources functions, preferably in a non-profit/social services setting.
- Experience delivering Human Resource services within a unionized environment is an asset.
- Hands on experience in using MS Office, Google Workspace, databases and HRIS systems
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- In-depth knowledge of human resources operations and best practices; knowledge of employment standards, human rights legislation, and collective agreements
- Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of and adherence to all applicable legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Superior organizational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and work accurately with detailed information
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining a keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing with employees and external partners
- Functions effectively as a team member, demonstrating emotional stability and objectivity when dealing with challenging/changing work environments
- Process facilitation and project management skills and experience
- Computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work effectively in a high volume and time sensitive environment
- Excellent communication skills including oral presentation skills, writing skills, listening and observation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, with other community and related service organizations to achieve Family Dynamics’ goals and objectives
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coach and council managers and staff by addressing issues related to HR challenges, employment standards and employee relations.
- Conduct workplace investigations and provide advice on appropriate outcomes and recommendations, while ensuring the completeness of the investigation file.
- Work with program managers to develop new positions and position descriptions to meet program and organizational needs.
- Full-cycle recruitment.
- Using the appropriate form, report changes in employment status to the Payroll department.
- Support management and staff through all phases of the performance management cycle.
- Develop and revise HR policies and procedures; complete audits and make recommendations for new policies.
- Coordinate and manage the processing of employee leaves of absence cases, which includes administering Short Term claims (paid/unpaid sick leave), Long Term Disability claims, Worker’s Compensation claims, MPI, and the Service Canada Sick Leave Benefit. Educational and Personal Leaves on a case by case basis.
- Promote and ensure that Human Resource services are offered in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and policies of the Agency.
- Manage internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
- Maintain HRIS system and create reports as needed.
