Laurier’s Centre for Indigegogy is one example of how Laurier honours Indigenous knowledge. **Position Summary** International Students Overcoming War (ISOW) is a student-funded humanitarian initiative with the capacity to provide students with extensive experiential learning opportunities. General goals for the program in the coming year include: - Continued development of the ISOW Scholarship to support students from the Middle East and Myanmar - Delivery of academic courses in the area of applied humanitarianism to supplement the learning of student leaders - Development of an ISOW Newcomer Scholarship - Continued development on innovative programs that engage the university and surrounding communities on the human realities of conflict. The ISOW Assistant/Intern will have the opportunity to continue the learning that they began as an undergraduate student engaged with ISOW. This position is an example of the University’s commitment to ongoing experiential learning, to promoting diversity among the student body, and to supporting academic excellence among students that include sponsored ISOW Scholars. The Assistant/Intern will be a recent graduate of Laurier with experience in ISOW. They will have the opportunity to continue learning begun as an undergraduate and to grow into a position of increasing responsibility. The ISOW Assistant/Intern will work with the ISOW Faculty Advisor and ISOW President to facilitate the ongoing development of ISOW as an experiential learning endeavor and to support the success of ISOW Scholars. **Accountabilities** - **Administrative Support**: - Provides administrative support for ISOW including: scheduling meetings, minute-taking, mailing list maintenance, expense claim submission, etc.; - Assists in processing travel and expense reimbursements for ISOW members; - Provides support to ISOW President and Assistant Directors; - Provides support to ISOW Scholars; - Provides administrative support to the ISOW Advisory Committee; - Participates in monthly ISOW Management Team Meetings and ISOW portfolio meetings as required; - Acts as liaison with University units necessary to support the implementation of ISOW Scholarships, including Awards, Admissions, Development & Alumni Relations, CPAM; - Provides primary contact with the GSA; - Provides support for management of ISOW club budgets. - **Programming Support**: - Assists with the planning and delivery of ISOW programming; - Provides support and guidance to ISOW leaders as they plan educational events; - Assists ISOW leaders in developing public presentations on and off campus; - Provides administrative support in the implementation of Experiential Learning Certificates for ISOW leaders. **Qualifications** - Completion of a two to three year post-secondary diploma - One (1) year related experience; - Previous involvement with ISOW; - Demonstrated understanding of ISOW and its operations; - Active involvement with WLUSU clubs; - Experience working effectively with students as a peer; - Experience planning events; - Ability to respond to student needs confidentially and promptly; possessing good judgment about when to turn to others for additional support; - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; - Familiarity with University services within Laurier International, Dean of Students, Wellness Centre, Accessible Learning Centre, Centre for Student Success, Athletics to be able to guide Scholars;
