**Shop Technician Job Description**

Shop Technician

**Reports To**

Drilling Manager

**Summary**

The shop technician will be responsible for supporting field operations and the drilling manager by preparing equipment for use, loading and unloading equipment from delivery vehicles, performing equipment repair and inventory control. The role will include the ability to perform general workshop duties, providing support for the manager and field staff, and ensure accurate parts and inventory control.

**Job Duties**
- Complete basic repairs and maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Assist the drilling team in performing moderate to complex overhaul and repair work on pumps, engines and other necessary power equipment.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the workshop
- Coordinate with Drilling Manager on the schedule priorities and completion of work
- Coordinate third party repairs to equipment as required.
- Inspect equipment and workspaces in accordance with established procedures and checklists.
- Maintain records of work performed and schedule future servicing.
- Use a variety of testing equipment to determine malfunctions and the need for repair
- Drive vehicles as needed.
- Perform other related work as required and assigned.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training preferred
- Ability to Weld an asset
- Ability to operate a lift truck an asset
- General knowledge or electricity and electrical circuits an asset
- Appropriate credentials and certifications
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and various safety apps an asset.
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail

**Work Conditions**
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
- Travel to off-site locations may be required
- Overtime as required
- Various mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards.
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- May be exposed to high levels of noise

Pay: $26.00-$35.00 per hour

- Construction / Drilling: 3 years (preferred)
