K9 Officer

Securiguard maintains a highly trained Canine (K-9) division that is certified in narcotic and explosive detection as well as canine protection patrols. Developed for high-risk situations, Securiguard's K-9 division was the first private patrol certified by the RCMP.

The division has since been expanded to include foot patrols for customer sites, as well as providing explosive, weapons and narcotics detection services. It has been used in crowd control situation for major events. The use of a dog in conjunction with trained security guards adds a high level of deterrence and peace of mind for our clients.

Our K-9 teams are geared for rapid response resourcing to assist our clients with unique challenges in camps, airports, cruise ships, trucking and shipping environments as well as the physical protection of assets such as remote parking lots and commercial properties.

Currently we are recruiting for K9 Officer to join our team of certified professionals.

**Location**: YVR Airport
- Actively attend all sites required with your K9 partner - Includes long foot patrols, report writing, and K9 searches
- Provide excellent customer service with a continued focus on client and community relations
- Care for the designated K9
- Assist and respond to any calls by the Manager, K9 Compliance, for additional service as required
- Conduct Access Control
- Interior and exterior patrols as required, including but not restricted to parking lots, stairwells, hallways, common area facilities
- Coordinating and liaising with police and other emergency service providers as required
- Providing detailed statements including occurrence, incident and patrol reports as required
- Reporting and documenting any safety hazards
- Explosive or narcotics detection
- Maintaining training records

**Qualifications**:

- Strong Communication skills - verbal and written - Must pass a written exam before being eligible for the position, and midterm as part of the training course.
- Physically fit - ability to respond quickly to a variety of incidents, on foot or by vehicle.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs
- Ability to work independently under mínimal supervision.
- Demonstrate a high level of performance, commitment and motivation.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks under pressure.

**Requirements**:

- Valid BC Security License
- Valid class 5 Drivers license with a clean Drivers Abstract
- The ability to work outside during all weather conditions
- Excellent communication skills (Both Verbal and Written)
- Strong attention to detail
- 24/7 Availability (must be able to work overnight)
- Desire and passion to work with dogs
- Experience with dogs (working or pets)
- Commitment to a 4-month K9 Training Program
- Commitment to volunteer time in K9 training
- Safe vehicle to transport a K9
- The ability to take care of K9 after hours and live in a friendly environment for a dog
- Fenced yard for a K9, or space in living area designated for the K9 - Must pass a house inspection by a member of the K9 unit
- Ability to pass required physical, practical, and written assessments
