- Emily Carr University of Art + Design is currently seeking a qualified instructor to teach **ANIM** 350 - Special Topics in Animation**:CFX**within the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media in the Fall 2025 semester. Situated on unceded, traditional and ancestral xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territories in Vancouver, Canada, Emily Carr University is a world-renowned learning and research community dedicated to the education of artists and designers.

- The course meets for 3 hours per week, with additional time spent for office hours, course prep and marking. The structure of each class includes presentations of material, demonstrations of techniques, reviews of work in progress, and details about assignments. Outside of class, faculty prepare lessons, evaluate the students’ work, provide feedback, answer questions and grade projects.
**Required Qualifications**
- Review 3D asset preparation for simulation
- Discuss best practices for building procedural simulation rigs
- Demonstrate how to create dynamic character FX simulations such as Cloth, Muscle and Skin, Hair, Feathers and Fur
- Review file formats to store and edit simulation data
- Discuss CFX rendering best practices
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field
- Relevant professional practice.
- Knowledge of critique and feedback strategies.
- Experience working with people from diverse creative, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to develop lesson plans and prepare content for on-campus and/or online learning.
- Post-secondary teaching experience a significant asset.
- Experience with online education (including Moodle and Zoom) an asset.
