Environmental Project Coordinators

**Working with FRW’s Board, General Manager, Seasonal Staff and volunteers, the Environmental Project Coordinators (2 positions) will**:
- if necessary, due to COVID restrictions, work from home / tele-commute
- if necessary, due to COVID restrictions, develop electronic and virtual ways to involve volunteers in FRW projects
- conduct fundraising, bookkeeping, partner liaison and reporting, social media and website maintenance, etc.
- recruit, train and safely coordinate 2,000 volunteers to plant 10,000 native trees, shrubs and flowers
- coordinate volunteers and seasonal staff to water, mulch, weed, rodent guard and monitor plantings to ensure success
- organize in-person or virtual nature walks, educational presentations and events for students and volunteers
- implement public awareness and involvement strategies for a healthy Rouge Watershed and National Park
- implement communications, fundraising and media tools and strategies for FRW
- plan, schedule, implement, record and report on FRW projects and our work
**Requirements**:
- post secondary degree or diploma in conservation, environmental science, communications or related programs
- excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and an ability to multi-task effectively and calmly
- experience working with NGOs on environmental protection, stewardship and volunteer involvement
- driver’s license and ability to safely operate pick-up trucks, trailers and cube vans
- experience in tree planting, communications, public relations and fundraising
- ability to obtain vulnerable sector police clearance for working with children
- First Aid/CPR certification
**Desirable Qualities**:
- strong environmental and social ethics - respect for human rights, equality, diversity and the natural world
- ability to work safely and train and coordinate large groups of volunteers and students to do the same
- high quality, high productivity worker with experience working outdoors in all 4 seasons and weather
- highly motivated to meet and exceed FRW goals to protect and restore ecological integrity and watershed health
- willingness to work longer days when needed and several weekend events
- team player who can also work independently
**Desirable Experience and Assets**:
- natural resource, communications or applied ecology education and experience
- fundraising, event planning, scheduling and administrative skills (e.g. Quickbooks)
- communications, public relations, social networking, marketing and media skills
- volunteer recruitment, coordination, development and retention skills
- word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Office)
- graphics, design and cartographic skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Earth, QGIS)
- digital camera and video editing, website maintenance (Wordpress), GoPro and drone operation and multi-media skills
- knowledge of and proximity to the Rouge Watershed
- second language(s)
