**Position Description**

Canucks Autism Network (CAN) programs give children on the autism spectrum a place to learn sports skills, engage in new activities, and socialize with their peers without the fear of acceptance or the worry of competition. It is a chance for them to build new friendships, confidence, and their skillset. CAN provides a fun and engaging environment where the pace of instruction can be modified to meet our participant’s individual needs. A high instructor-to-participant ratio allows for individualized support and instruction for each participant, and a variety of strategies are used to help participants to be successful, including visual supports. Training is provided to all CAN Coaches, both in a virtual classroom and on the job.

CAN is looking for self-motivated, responsible, energetic, flexible and enthusiastic team players and experienced managers to join our growing pool of Onsite Supervisors. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Onsite Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the smooth, safe and high-quality delivery of CAN programs by directing and supporting program staff, navigating complex participant behaviors and ensuring that support strategies are being used effectively, as well as interacting with the families and caregivers of participants. The Onsite Supervisor is an important part of the CAN team, acting as the organization’s primary representative on the ground, and relaying important staffing and participant information to help improve programs.

All Onsite Supervisors receive in-house training, ongoing mentorship and training and benefit from small class sizes.

**Key Functions**
- Program Development_
- Facilitate program orientation for Coach, Support Workers, Volunteers and Program Assistants
- Communicate with parents/guardians to ensure that each participant’s goals and needs are being properly addressed throughout the program, and that appropriate support strategies are being used
- Develop and oversee the implementation of behavior support plans for program participants as required. Ensuring the involvement of all parties involved (family, staff, coach, Program Coordinator, etc.)
- Maintain and update behavior support plans as needed
- Human Resources and Volunteer Management_
- Collaborate, train, model and provide feedback to Support Workers, Coaches, Program Assistants and Volunteers on their overall performance and areas for growth
- Identify program staff training needs and provide collaborative mentoring and coaching using CAN tools and resources
- Respond to program staffing, facility and participants changes to ensure the continued delivery of safe programming for all
- Administration & Other Duties _
- Create initial participant-staff pairings and update on an as needed basis
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of communication logs to the Program Coordinator that include attendance (volunteers, staff, and participants), incident reports, first aid reports, safety care reports, staff/volunteer performance, equipment needs, etc.

**Job Requirements**
- Education & Experience_
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- A minimum of 2 years’ relatable experience supporting children, youth and adults with Autism
- Knowledge of positive behavior support principles for children, youth and adults with Autism
- Must have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C (at minimum)
- Must have valid Safety Care training (to be provided by CAN)
- Previous experience playing or coaching hockey
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement intensive behavior support plans
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and community members
- Previous social service experience communicating with families to understand theirs needs and challenges an asset
- Previous experience in a training and/or role of supervising/managing others
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities _
- Must be able to skate forwards, backwards and stop with ease, and able to physically support participants on the ice when necessary
- Highly reliable self-starter and ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Superior communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent people management and leadership skills that exhibits approachability
- Computer literate with in-depth knowledge of MS office and web-based systems; visual aids technology
