The role:
Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Production Processes

Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician for Production Processes will support routine laboratory operations and ensure the smooth execution of basic tasks. This role is responsible for sample preparation, equipment maintenance, and supporting quality assurance. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong attention to detail and a basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Sample Preparation and Testing:

- Prepare, label, and organize samples for production testing.
- Perform routine tests and measurements on samples under the guidance of senior staff.
- Document test results accurately and promptly in laboratory records.
- Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:

- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure that equipment is clean, functional, and ready for use at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Data Entry and Record-Keeping:

- Maintain accurate and organized records of test results and sample information.
- Update digital or paper-based tracking systems for production data and test outcomes.
- Support inventory tracking by logging the use of laboratory supplies.
- Quality Control Support:

- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and reliability in sample testing.
- Conduct basic quality checks on raw materials and finished products as instructed.
- Report deviations or unusual results to the Quality Assurance or Production Manager.
- Laboratory Organization and Cleanliness:

- Keep the laboratory organized and clean, following safety and hygiene protocols.
- Manage the disposal of laboratory waste according to regulations and company policy.
- Ensure that supplies are stocked, cleaned and available for laboratory operations.
- General Tasks:

- Prepare and produce multi-element solutions according to specified formulations and procedures.
- Operate and calibrate technical and analytical balances to ensure precise measurements.
- Use volumetric flasks and Pasteur pipets to handle and transfer liquids with high accuracy.
- Safely handle and work with strong acids and other chemical reagents.
- Maintain proper documentation of solution preparation, weights, and measurements.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols, including wearing safety glasses, lab coat, safety shoes, and nitrile gloves at all times.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure product consistency and compliance with specifications.
- Properly store and label chemical solutions following regulatory and company guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience: Prior laboratory experience is beneficial but not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Skills:

- Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.

Working Conditions
- Exposure to laboratory chemicals and equipment; safety protocols must be followed.
- May require standing for long periods and handling delicate instruments.
- PPE for this role is mandatory
