Bird's Nest Cafe is a beloved independent coffee shop and restaurant located in downtown Halifax. We specialize in serving made-from-scratch breakfasts and lunches, emphasizing quality ingredients and exceptional customer service.

**Summary**

We are looking for a full-time **prep cook with baking experience** who can handle some of our prep tasks for our busy café.

Hours would be full time, estimated to be 4 weekdays from 12pm - 8pm plus Saturdays from 8:30am to 2:30pm. This is a new position that we’re adding to our team, so this is our best guess as to the schedule and we will try to provide flexibility where we can.

We’re looking for a well-rounded professional cook / baker who can:

- do some of our batch prep tasks
- assist with daily prep
- create and execute a weekly lunch special for the café
- and who can bake too Baking will be comprised of cookies, muffins, cinnamon buns, and cakes. Experience with viennoiserie and laminated doughs (croissants) is a major asset, but training is available.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is required.
- Previous baking experience is required.
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to self-organize your prep list and execute your tasks independently.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
