**Job Title: Inaadiziwin Support Mentor**
**Please note this is a full-time contractual position. Shifts are available in blocks of 24hrs (sleeping in the building). Full time is equivalent to 3 shift/week.**
**Wage**:$36,000-$43,200/year
**Description**:Inaadiziwin - Transitional Support Services Inc.(‘Inaadiziwin’) offers culturally-informed, wrap
- around independent living programming for youth as they gain the skills and experience to transition successfully out of the child welfare system and into independence. We provide a culturally based environment where relationships and attachments are prioritized, and physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs are nurtured.
Our approach is client-centered, non-judgmental, and anti-oppressive. We assess the specific needs of each youth, helping to build individual capacity using a strengths-based perspective rooted in Indigenous knowledges and practices.
**Qualifications**: Must be proficient in written and oral communications. Diploma/certificate in youth care work, social services, social justice, Indigenous studies, mental health are considered an asset.
Experience and knowledge of historical impacts of colonization, as well as respect for and/or practice of the 7 teachings and Indigenous culture.
**Responsibilities**:
- Developing and maintaining a positive and healthy relationship with the youth and their supports
- Role modelling healthy relationships, communication, and coping skills
- Exploring and attending cultural activities and ceremonies
- Teaching independent living skills such as: household management, cleaning, cooking, budgeting, and grocery shopping
- Teaching and assisting with transportation
- Accessing resources
- Exploring recreational, educational and employment opportunities, etc.
- Securing housing and helping with moves
- Assisting youth in work experience with our social enterprise Operation No More Snow property maintenance. (Lawn care and Snow removal)
- Documentation, daily logs, Incident reports and communications within the agency
- Store and administer medications
**Additional Requirements**: Criminal Record Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Valid License, and access to a Vehicle
