Symphony Senior Living Orleans is currently seeking Active Adult Program Leaders (1- Superintendent -couple) for our Symphony Orleans location. We operate three active adult buildings with tenants that enjoy peaceful surroundings in a park like setting in one
- and two-bedroom apartments. These buildings are for independent adults only, we do not offer, care, meals, housekeeping or laundry. The tenants currently receive accommodations only. We are adding, via our active adult program, weekly activities and transportation to the three buildings in this community.
If you love working with seniors, enjoy cleaning, maintenance, building systems, and are social and enjoy group activities, then this could be the position for you. This position is a live-in, position, with salary and free rental of a 2-bedroom unit.
The primary objective of theActive Adult Program leaders are to oversee and execute the Active Adult program in the locations of 6415, 6410 and 6420 Lumberman Way. Their goal is to enhance the lives of the residents and tenants in the three adult apartment buildings and provide a feeling of community and safety. They will carry out cleaning and light maintenance duties, emergency call duties and host activities as planned by the CEO, Orleans. They will ensure that all systems—including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical—are functioning properly and report issues to Maintenance. The Active Adult program Leaders are expected to perform the duties of the position consistent with Symphony’s Mission, Vision and Values, all policies, and procedures.
**Job Duties**
- Carry out the Active Adult program, including 3 activities a week and 1 outing a week. Every other week one activity is on the weekend; at least 4 activities a month will be after 6 pm. Activities are to be held in 6415 common area and outdoors when weather permits. No activities will be held in 6419.
- Assist in creating the activity calendar with the CEO, Orleans.' Host the active adult tenant monthly input meeting for ideas and suggestions for new activities.
- Ensure the activity calendar is posted in all lobbies.
- Provide reminders and communication for key activities.
- Ensure supplies are ready and available for the activities. Maintain purchasing logs, inventories, and budget for the supplies.
- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude; ensure the grounds and buildings are safe and secured - rounds in evening.
- Respond appropriately and professionally to emergencies, complaints, and safety issues.
- Address tenant concerns effectively and promptly; Always maintaining positive approach and considering safety and security.
- Weekly clean lobbies, laundry room and washroom, elevator cab, including mopping and vacuuming of all floors, runners, and furniture. (in 6415- 6410 and 6420 partially cleaned by other tenant)
- Daily and as needed cleaning and wiping of lobby windows, doors, trims, baseboards, walls, floors in the common areas, including the tops of washers and dryers.
- Dusting all lobby area light shades, picture frames and table tops etc.
- Ensure activity room is clean and in good repair; request needed assistance and repairs. Schedule other users of the room in an orderly and fair fashion - post schedule for the common area rooms.
- Assist in completing Move In and Move Out Inspections on off hours and weekends;
- Cover emergency evening hours phone for “on-call” in the three buildings 7 pm to 7 am - every other weekend will be on rotation with other managers.
- Assist as needed for move ins and unit prep.
- Maintain standards in accordance with Symphony Senior Living policies and procedures. Including, but not limited to Health and Safety regulations, such as local fire codes, handicap access, and other laws
- Report any emergencies immediately to the CEO and other managers.
- Work in coordination with Maintenance team and management at 6419 when required or during an emergency.
**Job Qualifications**:
- In addition to the above:
- Must have a valid drivers license/class F or be willing to get a class F license to drive the bus within the first 90 days of employment. One person in the couple must meet this requirement within 90 days of employment.
- Must be over 25 years old - (insurance requirement for bus driver) and able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Police check
- High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
- Read, write, speak English at a minimum but preference given to bilingual in French.
- Must have good computer skills, able to use Microsoft word, and publisher/Yardi for the calendars
- Must be Covid vaccinated to most recent direction minimum two doses. Must be able to work through a pandemic, flu outbreak or other outbreak. We are unable to accommodate immunocompromised in this position due to the emergency call and safety requirement of the job.
