**Are you looking for a rewarding, fulfilling, and exciting job opportunity this summer? Do you like spending time outdoors, engaged in recreational activities? Do you like crafts and/or cooking or planning fun activities? Do you want to learn sign language or other communication techniques?**
Sensity is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate people to work alongside and learn from our experienced intervenors in supporting people who are deafblind. Sensity provides comprehensive training to prepare you for this position. Included in your training will be courses on Introduction to Deafblindness, Introduction to Intervenor Services, Methods and Techniques (of Intervenor Services) and Communication, including sign language. **This position is located in** **Sarnia, Ontario**.
**Some of the activities you could be involved in include**:
- Bowling
- Camping
- Swimming
- Hiking/trail walking
- Bingo
- Movies/theatre
- Baseball games
- Shopping
- Cooking/baking
- Arts & crafts
While you're having fun with all of this, you will be having a positive impact on the lives of people who are deafblind. You will also be gaining valuable transferable skills such as interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and customer service skills. Although this is intended as a summer position, there is a possibility this could lead to continued employment with Sensity.
We are looking for students who are at least 18 years of age or older enrolled in a Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Services Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Behavioural Science, or a related human services field.
Even if you are not in one of the related fields mentioned we offer a **World Class Training program** and will train you, so we still encourage you to apply.
