Consultant, Risk Management

**Summary**:
The Consultant is responsible for:
- Providing support and leadership for risk management and patient safety processes throughout the organization
- Championing, marketing, managing and monitoring the corporate patient safety concerns reporting software
- Managing the legal claims administration process and related correspondence with hospital insurer, adjuster and legal counsel
- Developing, maintaining and leading the corporate Quality of Care review process
- Providing advice and consultation to internal stakeholders in response to risk and patient safety related inquiries
- Coordinating risk management and patient safety corporate projects/initiatives such as the Risk Assessment Checklist (RAC) process and the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) Plan)
- Development, implementation and review of policies and processes required to improve patient safety and reduce risk within the organization
- Participation on corporate committees and working groups from a risk management and patient safety perspective
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate degree in Healthcare Management or a health related discipline
- Masters degree in Business or Health Services Administration or a health related discipline (preferred)
- Certification in healthcare risk management and/or patient safety (preferred)
- Previous experience in a health care setting preferably in risk management, patient safety and/or quality management
- Demonstrated problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks and time demands
- Superior judgment, tact and diplomacy including proven meeting and group facilitation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills including the ability to present information to large groups
