**Your Role**:
The role of Crew Hand is to support the Crew Lead in the daily routines of the crew. There are typically one or two hands per crew, depending on the route and season. In this role, your duties will include:

- Participating in and supporting a healthy, encouraging, and welcoming work environment for yourself and the rest of the crew
- Safely operating a truck and trailer, including participating in monthly guided safety and maintenance inspections of both
- Helping to maintain an organized truck and trailer, and supporting the crew lead in gathering everything needed for your work day
- Carrying out instructions given by your Crew Lead or the General Manager on properties or around the yard
- Receiving training from your Crew Lead and the General Manager to improve your skills and knowledge
- Building a rapport with clients so we can best meet their needs
- Maintaining an open, collaborative mindset when working with other staff
- Being willing to put in some (properly paid) overtime if the crew lead deems it necessary to complete a task during our busy season.
- Note any safety concerns and bring them to the attention of your Crew Lead or the General Manager.

In order to carry out these duties, the following skills and knowledge are required:

- Valid BC driver's license, Class 5
- A keen interest in plants, horticulture, and ecology, as well as an intention to expand your knowledge on a supported but ultimately self-driven, ongoing basis.
- Some tool and machine knowledge; familiarity with small gas and electric maintenance equipment such as mowers, hedge and grass trimmers, ladders, hand saws, etc. Some conceptual understanding of machines, their safe use, and responsible care.
- Good vehicle awareness, with an ability to safely operate as well as maintain an awareness of vehicle conditions, in order to report anything that needs tending to.
- An ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions, including cold, rain, and heat.
- An ability to put in a full day of physical labour outdoors at a consistent, commercial pace.

We will train and support growth and skill-building in all of these areas, but you will need to possess a certain degree of the above and qualifications in order to be considered for the role. You will also need to provide your own steel-toed, CSA-certified work boots.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$27.00 per hour
