NAIT Transition Services are looking for a collaborative individual who will use their strong organizational skills to liaise with employers, coordinate events and create opportunities for NAIT students to connect with industry professionals. They will also conduct outreach to employers in diverse sectors to establish relationships, inform them about available NAIT employer services and coach them on preparing job postings for NAIT’s student job board. The Career & Employment Liaison will often serve as an advisor to employers who seek to hire NAIT students/alumni regarding NAIT program availability, career outcomes and best hiring practices. The Career & Employment Liaison will actively contribute to NAIT industry partners’ ability to conduct successful talent acquisition.
This position requires considerable contact with industry professionals, knowledge of NAIT programs and services, as well as an ability to foster long-lasting professional relationships. The Career & Employment Liaison will work collaboratively with Academic Advisors - career focus, Work Integrated Learning coordinators, Advancement and other internal stakeholders on projects and special assignments. They must be able to work independently on such tasks as data entry, report writing and management of the online student job board. The Career & Employment Liaison is expected to possess or be willing to develop comprehensive knowledge of Symplicity software.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Build and maintain positive and ongoing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create and foster long-term engagement with NAIT and our students
- Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders and proactively identify opportunities to engage students in industry recruitment activities
- Serve as a central point of contact for employer services across campus; acts as a liaison between NAIT program areas, Advancement, students and prospective employers
- Coordinate with internal (program and service areas) and external (employers, major gift donors) stakeholders for the preparation, planning and execution of on-campus and virtual recruitment events such as information sessions, career fairs, mock interviews and others
- Work closely with the Academic Advisors - Career Focus, to deliver a robust suite of career and employment services
- Move initiatives forward and resolve problems with high degree of professionalism and diplomacy
- Manage employer registrations and postings in Symplicity to ensure they meet appropriate standards
- Carry out additional projects as required, such as Symplicity audit, data analysis or website updates
- May be required to recruit, train and oversee the work of student staff.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work collaboratively.
- Organization and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict resolutions skills and ability to interact with individuals at various social and professional backgrounds in tactful and diplomatic way.
- General awareness of appropriate hiring practices and effective job posting creation are fundamental, along with demonstrated successful event planning and execution skills.
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite are essential.
**Qualifications**:
- Related post-secondary diploma
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred (with a focus in business, marketing or communications)
- Considerable related experience (three to five years)
- Equivalencies may be considered
- Experience using Symplicity, Orbis or a similar software preferred.
**Remuneration**: $2,320.28 - $3,109.48 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator I).
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement._
