**Job Description**:
As one of the Managers within the Human Resources & People Experience Team, you will be responsible for the development and management of the Health Centre's Volunteer Resources program which involves strategy and operational planning, implementation and evaluation, volunteer recruitment and supervision, policy and procedure formulation, and overall program leadership.
**Education**:
I. Bachelor's degree
II. Preference for CHRP & HRPA (Human Resources Professional Association), and/or PARVO (Professional Administrators of Volunteer Resources of Ontario) certification and membership
**Experience**:
I. Three to five years of related Volunteer Resources management experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
**Competencies**:
I. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
II. Volunteer practice standards, best practices and trends (demographics, interests, etc.)
III. Proven effective management skills including coaching competency
IV. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
V. Experience with adult learning techniques and theories
VI. Problem-solving skills to proactively identify issues and work towards a solution
VII. Planning and organizational skills to clearly define a course of action for self and others to accomplish short and long-term goals
VIII. Advanced interviewing skills to evaluate job and volunteer applicants
IX. Multi-tasking and time management skills to adjust to shifting priorities with ease and resiliency
X. Passion for volunteerism and those who give of their time so generously
**Responsibilities**:
- Uses their unique skills to manage numbers of unpaid personnel with a variety of backgrounds, skills and diversity
- Manages and develops volunteer service programs
- Planning for new programs or special projects by meeting with leaders and defining requirements
- Work in collaboration with clinical program leadership to integrate volunteers as part of the care team through initiatives
- Conduct regular rounding with department liaisons and/or leaders to gather feedback and make adjustments/improvements as required
- Recruits, screens, and onboards volunteers and student volunteer programs
- Assigns and coordinates the schedules and duties of volunteers and manages fluctuating volunteer resources throughout the year.
- Maintains accurate records and files for volunteer activities and hours provided
- Provides oversight and maintenance of the volunteer electronic system
- Develops, maintains and reviews Volunteer Resources policies and procedures, manuals, and volunteer documents as required
- Rounds with volunteers to receive feedback and encourage volunteer engagement
- Responsible for general volunteer orientation
- Coordinates volunteer program recognition including planning and implementation of special recognition events
- Works collaboratively with local and network peers to monitor programs and implement initiatives that will best meet organisational and volunteer goals
- Monitors the placement of volunteers in their area of assignment
- Facilitates arrangements for in-service volunteer training
- Plans, organizes, and maintains appropriate methods and tools for evaluation of volunteer services to comply with the Hospital’s Quality Assurance Program and Accreditation Canada
- Promotes positive staff/volunteer relations
- Ensures safe working practices are followed by all volunteers and that such responsibilities are outlined in their job descriptions
- Ensures that all departmental equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, and an effective preventive maintenance program is in place
- Promotes public relations by providing consultations, educational sessions and talks to other Hospital Departments, various community groups and agencies as requested and approved
- Liaises and promotes volunteerism with other municipal, regional, provincial, and national volunteer associations
