Technical Writer

**Description**

Technical Writer, Engineering assists with creation, maintenance, and revision of engineering documentation, across media types and platforms, to help drive continuous improvement in the design, manufacturing, and support of Badger Daylighting equipment.
- Create and maintain manuals needed to understand the functionality of a product, service, or task (parts, manuals, user manuals, operation guides, work instructions, etc.)
- Edit documentation for clarity without changing key information
- Conduct research as required on specified area or topic relevant to associated documentation
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, procedures, regulations and standards
- Maintenance and administration of online documentation tools, resources, and libraries
- Commitment to continuous improvement of all engineering branchesCommunicate any and all unsafe conditions, practices or events in a timely manner to direct supervisor to facilitate continuous improvement of safety program
- Perform other general tasks as required
- Online resource documentation control (Documoto)
- Ensure consistent part numbering an item setup process
- Maintain consistent documentation formats and structures
- Take part in Badger's Continuous improvement and safety programs

**Qualifications**
- Applicable degree/diploma from accredited institution
- Experience with standard document and graphical creation and editing software (Office platform, PDF creator/editor, Adobe Photoshop, Solidworks Composer
- CAD experience beneficial but not required
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good at taking specific direction on tasks
- Excellent time management skills to work with strict deadlines as required
- Interest in developing technical skills applicable to more involved/in depth document creation, via internal or external training
- Creative technical nature for creation of documents
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, procedures, regulations and standards

The Badger Hydrovac uses a pressurized water stream to liquefy the soil cover, which is then removed with a powerful vacuum system and deposited into a storage tank. Badger manufactures and designs our truck-mounted hydrovac units, giving us the opportunity to incorporate feedback from our hydrovac operators into existing and future design and manufacturing processes.
