**Position Overview**

- The City of North Vancouver Engineering, Parks and Environment Department requires a regular full-time Equipment Operator 4A.
**Responsibilities**
- You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, servicing and minor maintenance of heavy mobile construction and maintenance equipment such as hydraulic backhoes.
You will operate a rubber tired hydraulic backhoe in a municipal construction setting; perform routine servicing and minor maintenance work on the equipment; direct the work of other employees engaged in duties related to the operation of the equipment; and assist with other duties on the jobsite as required. You will be able to exercise considerable independent judgement and are able to verbally or receive written assignments by your supervisor. You will have great mechanical aptitude work on and around underground utilities.
**Requirements**:
- You will have a thorough knowledge of the methods, practices and rules of safe and efficient operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment, good knowledge of the methods, tools and practices used in servicing and performing minor repairs to such equipment, and several years of related experience. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License is also required. A Class 3 with Air Endorsement would be an asset.
- In addition, as this position provides relief in the Equipment Operator 5 position, experience operating a Track Excavator would be an asset.
**Compensation**
- $37.73 per hour
- (January 2024 rates)
**Hours of Work**
- 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
