Buyer - Supply Chain

**Responsibilities**:
- Review & action weekly MRP reports to purchase, expedite and de-expedite components & materials. Purchase electronic/mechanical components & assemblies to support production and engineering demand.
- Execute appropriate action and manage day-to-day relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers with supply chain.
- Identify cost saving opportunities/projects and execute them effectively within a reasonable timeframe.
- Taking advantage of price breaks by reviewing lot sizes and annual consumption. Utilize ‘total cost of ownership’ principles and monitor contractual agreements, initiate appropriate measures to secure supply.
- Work directly with manufacturing and engineering personnel to communicate procurement delivery schedules.
- Support NPD procurement initiatives (ie: RFQ’s, Costing, Subcontracting)
- Provide status updates as required on material availability & shortages in order to meet production schedules.
- Resource to establish inventory levels in order to maximize turns and review obsolete & slow moving material.
- Resource to establish safety stock levels for key materials and components.
- Work with suppliers and receiving to resolve invoice, pricing, quantity, P/N etc discrepancies.
- Address non-conforming material issues in a timely manner to ensure acceptable inventory is on hand to prevent production disruption.
- Support engineering change notice (ECN) implementation.
- Cycle count analysis to resolve discrepancies and improve on-hand accuracy.
- Implement changes to improve procurement procedures. Contribute to the establishment of new buying or procurement policies and strategies.
- Support the supplier approval process and conduct logístical performance reviews with suppliers.
- Provides direction & mentoring for Junior Buyer as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Post Secondary Education (College Diploma in Materials Management/Business Administration/Supply Chain Management or equivalent).
- Ideally 3 to 5 years of experience as a buyer within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with offshore suppliers, particularly China.
- Proficient with ERP/MRP systems (ie: Syspro or other)
- Manufacturing and materials process knowledge to process non-conforming material.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Ability to meet deadlines, set priorities and multi-task.
- Work well in a team environment and communicate with internal and external customers and contractors.
- Basic level contract law skills and advanced knowledge of the procurement process.
- Good knowledge of transportation methods and costs.
- Basic product knowledge ideally with electronic and mechanical commodities.
- Good problem solving ability when conducting cycle count analysis.

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
