**Job Overview** As a boutique family and estates law firm who just engaged in a full rebrand, we are looking to hire "independent contractors" at this time to grow with us. This position would be ideal for someone who is a sole practitioner looking to take on additional clientele, or anyone wanting an ideal work/life balance in a boutique work environment. The salary will be based on a percentage of billable work (you can 'eat what you kill'), and a clerk and 3 office locations across the GTA will be provided. You have the flexibility to join our growing estates team, work completely remotely, and manage your own files and business with the firm. If you have any experience in family law as well, this would be extremely ideal as our firm has a busy family law roster of clientele and could use extra support on this end. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, legal drafting capabilities, and the ability to conduct thorough research. The Estates Lawyer will represent clients in legal proceedings and provide them with sound legal advice while ensuring their rights are protected. **Responsibilities** - Represent clients in estates law cases, including probate and estate administration. - Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes. - Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies and decisions. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of estate law regulations and changes in legislation. - Communicate effectively with clients to explain legal processes and provide updates on case status. - Collaborate with other legal professionals and support staff to ensure efficient case management. **Experience** - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. - Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (Ontario). - Proven experience in estates law practice is preferred (3 years minimum). If you have additional family law experience, this will set you apart from the rest. - Proficiency in using legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis and/or Leap. - Strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively for clients. - Excellent writing skills for drafting clear and concise legal documents. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment. **Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $80,000.00-$150,000.00 per year Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week **Benefits**: - Flexible schedule - Work from home Schedule: - Monday to Friday Work Location: Hybrid remote in Aurora, ON
