**Introduction**:
The Lead, Urban Ecology & Greenspace is critical to the advanced planning and seamless execution of grounds care and maintenance programs at Evergreen Brick Works (EBW). They will also hold project management responsibilities for a number of new and exciting green infrastructure capital projects and improvements on site. Experienced in Placekeeping principles and reconciliatory practices, the Lead is a key contributor the EBW Operations team, overseeing seasonal gardening staff, and collaborating extensively with internal Evergreen teams and community partners.

**About the Role**:
The Lead, Urban Ecology & Greenspace is responsible for the planning, execution and day to day maintenance and care of urban ecology and greenspaces at EBW. The Lead ensures that spaces are designed through an inclusive, accessible, culturally respectful and ecological lens. A knowledgeable team player with a keen understanding of sustainability, the Lead is committed to supporting regenerative practices and programming excellence.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead the implementation of landscaping/gardening, and ecological restoration/greening projects focused on regenerative practices and principles.
- Develop comprehensive short and long-term landscape management plans including maintenance, planting, irrigation, invasive plant control, composting and soil building strategies.
- Contribute to Capital Infrastructure upgrades and improvements related to gardens and greenspaces at EBW, including Children’s outdoor spaces on site.
- Conduct regular monitoring and maintenance of greening projects on and off-site.
- Ensure tool inventory is up-to-date and well-maintained.
- Provide direct supervision, leadership and direction to seasonal gardening team.
- Design and implement daily, weekly and seasonal garden maintenance plans and schedules.
- Lead daily meetings, facilitate trainings and orientations and plan ongoing professional development opportunities for team members.
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, by-laws, and compliance with appliable provincial and federal legislation.
- Undertake daily record keeping and tracking, including documentation for health and safety purposes.
- Undertake the required procurement of materials and services and inventory.
- Track utility and infrastructure locates and adhere to site specific soil cap management policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Indigenous partners, demonstrating best practice in co-governance.
- Lead the delivery of community volunteer stewardship programs and projects related to gardening and landscaping.
- Host citizen science groups and facilitate tours, walks, talks and presentations as required.
- Plan, deliver and monitor off-site Urban Agriculture projects with community or corporate partners including garden builds, events and workshops.
- Be a positive and proactive contributor to workplace safety.
- Support flood preparation, evacuation and clean up protocols as necessary as well as emergency responsiveness.

**You have the following qualifications**:

- Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Landscape Design, Resource management, Restoration ecology, Environmental Sciences, Biology or a related discipline.
- 3 - 5 years of experience working in the field of watershed restoration, stewardship and sustainability, regenerative agriculture, permaculture design.
