**About us**:
We are a family that has VON funding to hire our own caregivers to care for our daughter/sister, Maria. We depend on and respect our caregivers and treat them well. We currently have great team of caregivers but with everyone's overlapping schedules we do have a need for a larger team. We especially need help filling late evening and weekend shifts.

**Personal Support Worker**

Maria his 26 years old and has as a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, dystonia, and scoliosis. She has limited verbal ability but can communicate more when she's feeling well. She struggles with anxiety and pain which sometimes causes severe muscle spasms due to her dystonia. She receives nutrition via g-tube but also eats and drinks by mouth when she is able. She cannot be left unsupervised for long and requires 24/7 care. Maria has a beautiful smile and loves to chat, read, bake or do small crafts when she is able.
- Part of the time you may be working as a team to do washups/mealtime etc.
- Permanent part time position
- paid training provided

This position will be in a private suite in an apartment building in Norwich, Ontario where you can develop a meaningful 1:1 relationship with Maria in a safe and non-hectic environment. We depend on and respect our caregivers and treat them well.

**Duties include**:

- regular positioning
- administering medication
- giving meals and supplemental g-tube feedings
- personal care and hygiene
- activities of daily living.
- companionship

**HOURS**:
We currently have need to fill evening and weekend hours from about 8pm

**The successful applicant must**:

- be willing to commute to London, Ingersoll or Woodstock hospitals to care for Maria there if she is hospitalized to advocate and care for her in the hospital setting (we reimburse excess kms, driving time and parking fees when in hospital)
- respect the sanctity of life
- be able to handle or have some experience in palliative care
- be physically strong enough to reposition a small adult female
- be committed and empathetic
- have a valid drivers license and be comfortable with winter driving.

Pay will be monthly by e-transfer, no deductions will be made.

Vaccines and PPE are not required to work for us. We respect personal choice.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 - 10 per week
