**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Vessel Navigation & Operations**:

- Assume full responsibility for the safe operation, navigation, and overall performance of the vessel during each voyage.
- Utilize advanced navigation systems (GPS, radar, charts, etc.) to plan routes, monitor weather conditions, and adjust course as necessary.
- Ensure proper communication with land-based office, coast guard, and other vessels as required.

**Crew Leadership & Management**:

- Lead, supervise, and mentor crew members, fostering a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused team environment.
- Delegate responsibilities to deck crew, including Mate and other crew, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct regular briefings and communications with crew
- **Safety & Compliance**:

- Oversee all safety procedures and emergency response protocols, ensuring that the vessel, crew, and passengers comply with maritime regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance checks on safety equipment, vessel systems, and emergency supplies.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation, including voyage reports, safety inspections, and compliance records.

**Guest Experience & Customer Service**:

- Engage with guests about the 1000 Islands region and ensure a comfortable, enjoyable experience.
- Address any guest concerns or emergencies promptly, ensuring that all interactions reflect our commitment to excellent customer service.
- Oversee passenger embarkation and disembarkation, ensuring safety procedures are consistently applied.

**Operational & Administrative Duties**:

- Collaborate with company management to stay up to date with events and procedures.
- Manage administrative tasks such as updating voyage logs, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation.
- Oversee the secure storage of equipment, supplies, and onboard safety gear, ensuring that all assets are well-maintained and accounted for.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:
**Certification & Experience**:

- Valid marine License of Master 150 GT Near Coastal with a minimum of a 60 GT Limited Sheltered Waters License (Transport Canada issued). All other mandatory training (e.g., Marine Emergency Duties (MED), STCW Basic Safety Training, or equivalent) is required.
- Prior experience as Captain in marine operations related to tourism and customer service an asset
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of boat machinery, navigation systems, and vessel communication equipment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and leading a crew in a dynamic maritime environment.
- Knowledge of the St. Lawrence River and 1000 Islands region an asset.

**Skills & Attributes**:

- Excellent understanding of maritime safety protocols, navigation techniques, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot vessel systems such as GPS, radar, and communication devices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and during emergency situations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective guest interaction and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with local marine charts and a working knowledge of the waterways in the 1000 Islands region.
- Physical fitness and the capability to work in various weather conditions and challenging marine environments.
- First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Bilingual skills in English and French are an asset, reflecting the diverse clientele of our region.
