PML -Comptroller Assistant
- _**Overview**_

The Comptroller Assistant supports the Comptroller in overseeing the organization’s financial operations, reporting, and compliance activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial documentation, maintaining internal controls, and assisting in budget preparation and audits. The Assistant Comptroller collaborates closely with finance, operations, and management teams to help guide sound financial decision-making.
- _ **Responsibilities & Duties**_

Assist in the preparation and review of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Support the implementation and enforcement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Help monitor the company’s financial health by analyzing data, tracking variances, and identifying areas for improvement.

Assist in preparing budgets by collecting, consolidating, and analyzing financial data.

Support audits by compiling documentation and responding to requests from internal and external auditors.

Help ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Prepare special financial reports and summaries for senior management as needed.

Assist in managing financial systems and tools, ensuring data integrity and timely reporting.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department.

Maintain confidentiality of financial and strategic information.

Provide support to the Shared Services team as needed, including training and day-to-day supervision under the guidance of the Comptroller.
- _**Qualifications and Skills**_

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA designation in progress or completed is preferred).

2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit roles.

Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and Excel.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.

Professional integrity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Experience supporting audits or working within a corporate finance environment.

Familiarity with internal controls, risk management practices, and budgeting processes.

Exposure to financial planning and analysis (FP&A) is an asset.
- _ **Work Conditions**_

Office work (sitting at desk/working on computer for long periods of time)
