Curing Laborer

Hertel Meats Ltd.is a Pork processing plant providing fresh and smoked Sausages, Bacon, Ham and other specialty pork products.

Located on beautiful Vancouver Island, in Port Alberni, Hertel’s has been in business for 60 years bringing “old country” recipes to their valued customers.

Duties include the following:

- Operate machinery to process and bag, box or otherwise package food products
- Record production information
- Clean machines and immediate work areas
- Inform supervisor of mechanical malfunctions or product irregularities
- Make adjustments to process variables
- Set up and adjust processing and packaging machines
- Food safety/handling skills
- Manually pack goods into bags and boxes or other containers
- Check products and packaging for basic quality defects
- Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials
- Assist process control and machine operators in performing their duties
- Feed and unload processing machines

Weight handling
- Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Employment requirements
- No Experience Necessary - Employer will train
- Spoken English required
- High School

Additional pay:

Pay: $18.00-$19.64 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
