CanmetENERGY Devon research centre is located within a 20-minute drive from south Edmonton. Although there is no public transit available to the research centre, parking is free.
This is a hybrid position which requires a minimum of three days per week in the workplace, as mandated by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's guidelines on prescribed workplace presence.

Education
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position

Degree equivalency

Experience
- Practical experience in conducting research and/or technology development in chemical engineering related to reaction engineering, catalysis, catalyst synthesis, catalyst characterization, carbon capture and conversion, or hydrocarbon processing, involving bench-scale or pilot plant set-ups.
- Experience in planning, organizing, conducting, or executing research projects independently.
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, or interpreting experimental data.
- Experience in writing technical reports, publications, or research proposals.
- Demonstrated experience in presenting or communicating complex scientific issues and research results to professional, technical, or public audiences.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of the technologies and industrial practices commonly used, catalytic processes, and carbon capture and conversion.

Abilities/Competencies:

- Ability to propose and conduct research studies to advance knowledge and/or improve technologies and practices.

- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team to meet mandates.

- Experience in process modelling and simulation or life cycle analysis.

- Willingness to work overtime or work-shift
