Summit specializes in aggregate deliveries and construction rental throughout the Ottawa area. We take pride in our fleet of well-maintained trucks and are passionate about the dump trucking Industry. Responsibilities include proper pre-trip inspections, obeying the speed limit/following "the rules of the road," committed to working long hours, ability to report problems (foresee issues), keeping a neat and tidy truck interior, refueling vehicle at the end of the day/shift, committed to safety, avoiding dangerous or damaging situations, driving cautiously in rough on-site or road conditions, working independently, and proper communication in team-based scenarios. This Job is a day position Monday-Friday with the possibilities of weekend and/or night work in exceedingly rare scenarios. **All Trucks are Standards** $30.00 - $35.00 an hour, pay based on experience and performance. **Job Summary** **Responsibilities** - Operate dump trucks to transport materials such as dirt, gravel, and construction debris to designated locations. - Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition. - Load and unload materials safely, ensuring proper weight distribution for safe transport. - Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving on public roads and job sites. - Communicate effectively with site managers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and material needs. - Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including quantities transported and any issues encountered during transit. - Assist with basic maintenance tasks on the truck, including checking fluid levels and performing minor repairs as needed. **Skills** - Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with dump trucks or similar heavy vehicles. - Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations related to transportation. - Proficiency in heavy equipment operation. - Basic automotive repair skills to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues that may arise during operation. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members on-site. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols at all times.
