**About the Opportunity**:
The position of Pharmacy Research Practice Assistant is responsible for the coordination of the Pharmacy Department's participation in dispensing and managing of Clinical Drug Trials.

The Pharmacy Research Practice Assistant is accountable for all aspects of maintaining the drug accountability and drug source documents as per clinical trial protocols and Federal Regulatory laws. The Pharmacy Research Practice Assistant is responsible for ordering and maintaining all investigational products and ensuring its safe and compliant storage. They create summarized dispensing procedures and in-service pharmacy staff on dispensing of clinical trials prescriptions. They also perform regular reporting and billing processes and meet with Clinical Trials Monitors, Study Coordinators and Investigators. The Pharmacy Research Practice Assistant is responsible for filling oral chemotherapy trials.

**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) or equivalent experience (one year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years experience as a community pharmacy technician)
- Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician ( NSCP) is an asset
- Two years as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant experience, preferably in a hospital, an asset
- Knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy are an asset
- Experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
- Knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

$22.40 - $25.37 Hourly
