Child and Youth Care Worker

We are currently seeking a full-time youth support workers to provide support and supervision for at-risk youth.

**Applicant must be flexible to work 24-hour shifts, sleeping on-site within a residential setting.**

Qualifications/Requirements:
**Diploma in Child and Youth Care **or similar support field, or a combination of education and experience. Life and parenting experience a definite asset.

Applicant must be able to pass **Comprehensive Criminal Record Check and MCFD Security Check** that clears applicants to work with youth in the Vulnerable Sector.

**Previous experience in a staffed residential setting is a major asset**
- First Aid/CPR
- Full BCDL and Driver’s Abstract
- Vehicle is required.
- You take pride in your work and have a good work ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, as well as report writing skills.
- Organizational and time-management skills

Position details, but not limited to:
Working with in-care adolescents that may have experienced trauma, including those with MH challenges and/or addictions.

To comply with all Policies and Procedures

To follow existing individual treatment plans

Administer medication

Organizing and participating in recreational activities and outings

Cooking, cleaning, shopping, transportation

Ability to stay calm in a crisis situation

To be flexible, resourceful, and possess good time management skills
Good judgment, attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Crisis intervention training an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Salary includes 4% vacation pay, Statutory Holiday pay is paid separately, mileage reimbursement is a $0.50 per km, five paid sick days available if needed and Extended Medical and Dental benefit package is fully paid by SYS after applicants pass a 3 month probationary period.
