Care and Treatment Worker

The Genesis Day Treatment program delivered in collaboration with the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board is for clients, ages 12 - 18, who require Treatment for Concurrent Disorders (both mental health and addictions). The program is an Adventure-based Learning program utilizing exposure therapy to promote a harm-reduction approach to substance abuse treatment. Ongoing intake is available for the Genesis Program, on a 16-week rotational basis. This program includes:
- Individual, Group and Family Counselling,
- Adventure-Based Learning,
- Academics,
- Life Skills,
Healthy Active Living and Individualized Transition Planning.
The Care and Treatment Worker will work alongside the Counsellor, Genesis to provide Pro-Social Skills development; Foods Program and any of the necessary supports to our clients.
**MINIMUM EDUCATION**
- Child and Youth Worker Diploma
**MINIMUM EXPERIENCE**
- Two (2) years experience working with youth and families.
**QUALIFICATION SUMMARY**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development and provision of Skills for daily living as applied to the adolescent population, with particular emphasis on foods preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions, and carry them out and/or delegate.
- Demonstrated ability and maturity to act calmly in situations demanding quick assessment and immediate action.
- Knowledge of pertinent legislation, such as, The Child, Youth and Family Services Act, The Education Act, The Mental Health Act of Ontario, The Personal Health Information Protection Act, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with Agency staff, consultants, referral sources, service providers, education personnel, and families.
- Possession of a current First Aid Certificate and CPR is required.
- Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and data MIS.
- Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) an asset.
- Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License (minimum of Class G if over the age of 19, and Class G2 license if 19 and under), ability to travel, and use of a personal vehicle.
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Maintain the confidentiality of our clients and client information at all times as per agency policies and procedures.
Be a member of the Treatment Planning Team, facilitating through the peer consult process, the development, maintenance, and ongoing review of a) individual treatment plans, and b) the day to day content of the program.
Coordinate and facilitate the Foods Program.
Develop and provide structured daily living skills-based activities, and activity groups as part of the overall program service model.
Participate in a variety of Day Treatment activities, including the Adventure-Based Learning activities, to facilitate effective interventions as part of the treatment team.
Implement the policies and procedures developed by the Agency to ensure a safe and secure treatment environment in the day treatment program.
Provide individual, family and group services where applicable.
Work in cooperation with the community case manager and other clinicians assigned to ensure that client information is shared, and that the case plan is coordinated and supported in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain accurate records of services to clients through the use of data collection processes in place within the Day Treatment Program. Maintain contact hour logs and school activity logs to ensure all time allocation within the different program components are assigned to the appropriate sector.
Participate in communicating clinical concerns relating to other AFS services to the appropriate AFS Clinical Supervisor / Manager.
Provide input into the development of proposals for service growth and delivery.
Take initiative to develop a personal professional development plan.
Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time-to-time by the Clinical Supervisor / Manager.
