**Position purpose**
The French language specialist is a passionate linguist who supports the translation and revision of (English) content submitted by stakeholders, including multi-media based projects, using the French language services (FLS) team’s approved tools.
The French language specialist provides linguistic expertise to project owners and takes a solutions-driven approach to ensure projects are delivered in priority sequence and on-time. This is achieved by communicating and enforcing FLS processes amongst all stakeholders to ensure a consistent and fair experience.
The French language specialist reports to the manager, FLS.
**Position responsibilities**
- Prepare linguistic projects: respond quickly to requests, analyze, prepare, assign and monitor projects while collaborating closely with FLS senior language specialist, FLS translation leads and FLS agencies
- Manage all aspects of linguistic requests in collaboration with internal and external clients as needed: communicate timelines, contribute to terminology consulting, revise translations or perform quality control (on a case-by-case basis), deliver projects to clients, and follow up on billing (for a small group of clients)
- Contribute to the implementation of new tools and processes in collaboration with the senior language specialist and manager
- Perform quality control on an ad hoc basis (e.g., checking the accuracy of select translations and their consistency against source texts) and sharing their findings with the client
- Proofread documents and explain what changes should be made to clients, then retranslate erroneous content as required
- Occasionally translate confidential documents
- Ensure the Company’s terminology bank is consistent and up-to-date, and answer external and internal resources terminology questions, as required
- Build and maintain strong relationships with FLS translation leads and FLS agency partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients (both internal and external) and educate them about FLS’s translation and revision processes
- Provide punctual, accurate, and efficient service to all internal and external stakeholders
- Build relationships with Home Depot associates in Quebec to drive linguistic improvements
- Identify, share and support the implementation of process optimization opportunities
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the manager, FLS
**Experience/Knowledge required**
- University degree with specialization in translation (English to French), or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to speak and write fluently in both French and English
- Between 3 and 5 years of experience as a translator
- Between 3 and 5 years of experience as a reviser
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive)
- Knowledge of Plunet, Trados software (including Studio and MultiTerm), preferred
- Willingness to learn new processes, tools and technology (e.g., machine-driven solutions) to drive efficiency in project management and delivery
- Capability and willingness to provide efficient, quality service to all clients (internal and external)
- Ability to work well with others (e.g., cooperate, offer help when needed) and foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment to achieve common goals, while working remotely
- Ability to work without close supervision while completing projects and tasks with precision and on time

Le langagier, Services en langue française (SLF), est un linguiste passionné qui soutient la traduction de documents en anglais et la révision des traductions ainsi produites provenant des intervenants, y compris les projets multimédias, à l’aide des outils approuvés par l’équipe des SLF.

**Responsabilités**
- Préparer les projets linguistiques en répondant rapidement aux demandes ainsi qu’en analysant, préparant, attribuant et surveillant les projets en étroite collaboration avec le langagier principal, SLF; les chargés de projets de traduction, SLF; et les agences de services en langue française.
